Market Size India Biogass Market Size:-
India
biogas market size was valued at USD 1.40 billion in 2021. The market
is expected to grow from USD 1.47 billion in 2022 to USD 2.25 Billion in
2029 at a CAGR of 6.3% in the 2022-2029 period.
Whats SATAT?
In October, 2018, SATAT (Sustainable Alternative Towards Affordable Transportation) scheme on Compressed Bio Gas (CBG) was launched by Honorable Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas. The scheme focuses on production of 15 MMT (million tons) of CBG by 2025 with the use of 5000 Plants.
As per the SATAT scheme, entrepreneurs are free to establish their CBG plants to produce & supply CBG to OMCs for sale as automotive & industrial fuels. The main purpose of the scheme is to produce compressed biogas (CBG) from Waste and Bio-mass sources such as sugarcane press mud, agricultural residue, cattle dung, sewage treatment plant waste, and Municipal Solid Waste (MSW).
SATAT Objective
- Energy Independence by reducing the import of Natural gas and Crude OIl.
- Price Stability by having buffer against Crude Oil / Gas Price Fluctuations.
- Clean Mobility by decreasing vehicular pollution and burring of agricultural residues.
- Waste Utilization with the help of over 62 million MT of waste generated every year in India.
SATAT Scheme Is Promoted ByBelow
public sector undertakings of Govt. encourage individuals in setting up
CBG Compressed Bio Gas Plants in India. The scheme is promoted by:
- Indian Oil Corporation Ltd ( IOCL )
- Hindustan Petroleum Corp Ltd ( HPCL )
- Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd.( BPCL )
Global StatusThe
use of biogas is being encouraged by nations including Germany, Italy,
the UK, France, and Switzerland through the support of legislative
frameworks, educational initiatives, and technological accessibility. In
Europe, the majority of biogas produced is fed into natural gas grids
to generate electricity. Vehicles that run on biogas, either pure or
blended with natural gas, are the next most common use of biogas in
Europe, after which it is either used directly or blended with natural
gas for heating.MarketabilityAs
the Government of India is promoting green enery projects, CNG and
bio-CNG are in high demands across the country. Compressed Bio Gas is
extensively demanded and purchased by petrol stations, automobile
manufacturers and businesses that use boilers and furnaces.A
mutually beneficial commercial arrangement has been reached with Oil
and Marketing Companies (OMCs) under the SATAT GoI plan for the delivery
of CBG daily (2.5 MT/DAY) for the next 15 years. Additionally, if both
parties agree, it may be prolonged. In the near future, CBG will replace petroleum and LPG, and demand for CBG will only grow.Key Favourable Factors To The Project
- Easy availability of cow dung, agriculture residues and press mud.
- High promotion of organic farming and increasing agro production.
- Focus on clean environment and green energy.
- Need to use substitute for petroleum, diesel and LPG
- Reduces CO2 emission
- Improve rural hygiene
